H&M will expand store at Towson Town Center

Retailer H&M plans to relocate and expand its store at Towson Town Center in Towson, the chain said Thursday.

The chain, known for affordable, fashion-forward apparel, said the new store will grow by about 9,000 square feet and open in the fall.

Besides offering clothing and accessories for women, men and teens, the expanded store also will offer the H&M Kids collection, geared to 10- to- 14-year-olds. It also will offer its in-store clothing recycling program, Garment Collecting, launched in 2013 to help divert more than 2.5 million pounds of unwanted textiles from landfills.

H&M, a Swedish company founded in 1947, operates more than 4,200 stores, including 527 in the U.S., a market it entered 17 years ago. The retailer runs 14 Maryland H&M stores, including six in the Baltimore area: at Westfield Annapolis Mall, Arundel Mills, The Mall in Columbia, Harborplace, White Marsh Mall and Towson Town Center.
