The Harbor Bank of Maryland Community Development Corp. dedicated the Joseph Haskins, Jr. Center for Community and Economic Development on Thursday.

The center, located in the bank’s headquarters building at 25 W. Fayette St., will offer several programs designed to address Baltimore entrepreneurs’ need for access to financial and social capital, as well as technical assistance, to help them grow.

Named for the bank’s founder, chairman, president and CEO, the Haskins Center also offers entrepreneurs low-cost office space and access to resources, networks and other amenities.

The center is fully leased already with tenants including Black Girls Vote, Frontline Solutions, NLD Strategies, Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, Fortis Advisory, Project Pnuema, The BeMore Group and Blue 1647, though some work station spaces remain available.

The center’s tenants will get access to capital through the Harbor Bank Small Business Fund.

While the center serves all Baltimore communities, it will emphasize job creation in disinvested and low- to moderate-income areas.
