Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake Inc. said Wednesday that Lisa Rusyniak will take over as president and chief executive officer in December.
Rusyniak, Goodwill's chief operating officer, will replace Marge Thomas, who is planning to step down as president and CEO.
Rusyniak has worked for the nonprofit since 1997, when she was hired as director of marketing and disability services. She has served as COO since 2006, overseeing workforce development, human resources, and marketing and development.
"It is an honor to be entrusted with the continued success and prosperity of such a prestigious and valuable organization," Rusyniak said in a statement, in which she referred to Thomas as her mentor. "I know that were it not for Marge I would never have been given this chance."
