Giant Food is adding 78 jobs at its Landover headquarters, the grocery retailer said Friday.
Jobs are being added in marketing, merchandising, pricing strategy and other areas, said Felis Andrade, a Giant spokeswoman. The supermarket chain, owned by Ahold USA, operates 166 stores in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware, and Washington.
The job expansion is part of decentralization strategy that was announced after Giant’s owner, Royal Ahold, merged with Dehaize Group of Belgium in a $29 billion deal to form Ahold Delhaize. The strategy was designed to align the company’s chains more closely with their local markets.
