Giant Food has expanded its Landover headquarters and added 70 jobs.
The grocery retailer, one of the Baltimore area’s largest supermarket chains, said Thursday it has expanded its sales and merchandising operations and added 31,000 square feet to its corporate office.
The state Department of Commerce has approved a $250,000 conditional loan to help with project costs through the Advantage Maryland program, formerly known as the Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund. Prince George’s County also has approved a $250,000 conditional loan, through its Economic Development Incentive Fund.
Giant also is eligible for the state’s Job Creation Tax Credit.
The grocer was founded in 1936 and now runs 164 supermarkets in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Washington, D.C.
