Baltimore Gas and Electric parent Exelon Corp. announced Tuesday it had reached a settlement with one of 17 stakeholders in its ongoing merger case with Pepco Holdings.
The groups intervened in Chicago-based Exelon's proposal to merge with Pepco Holdings, creating what would be one of the largest utilities in the country. The case needs approval by the Maryland Public Service Commission and regulatory bodies in other states.
In the agreement with The Alliance for Solar Choice, a national rooftop solar advocacy group, Pepco Holdings will ease the process for customers to connect renewable generation and energy storage projects to the grid. Pepco will post service territory maps on utility websites that help solar developers find good locations for new installations.
In Delaware, Exelon was able to reach a settlement with the staff of the regulatory body there and numerous other stakeholders. The Maryland Public Service Commission must rule on the proposed merger by April 8.
