An out-of-state buyer who had recently acquired small newspapers in rural Maryland announced Tuesday it had scooped up the tiny Dundalk Eagle, a publication still run by its founder's daughter.
The buyer, Minneapolis-based Adams Publishing Group, last year bought the Star Democrat of Easton and the Cecil Whig of Elkton, in addition to nine weekly newspapers and other media entities in Maryland. The family-owned company also bought several other newspapers in Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota in 2014. The family also owns radio stations, magazines and an outdoor advertising company.
The 18,000-circulation Eagle was founded in 1969 by Kimbel E. Oelke and his wife, Mary. Their daughter, Deborah Cornely, became publisher in 2010 after Mary's death.
The deal includes the Eagle's offices at 4 North Center Place in Dundalk. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
