The Maryland Public Service Commission has scheduled several hearings in November where members of the public can comment on Baltimore Gas and Electric Co.'s proposed rate increase.
BGE is asking for its fourth rate increase in as many years, which would raise distribution charges to residents getting both gas and electric service by about $15 a month on average. BGE says it needs the rate increase to offset the cost of infrastructure upgrades. The higher rates would take effect in January if approved by the PSC.
The hearings will all be held at 7 p.m. on these dates and locations:
Nov. 6: Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel, 903 Dulaney Valley Road, Towson.
Nov. 10: County Council Chambers, first floor, Arundel Center, 44 Calvert St., Annapolis.
Nov 13: Hilton Garden Inn Columbia, 8241 Snowden River Pkwy., Columbia.
Nov. 17: Wohlman Assembly Hall, War Memorial Building, first floor, 101 N. Gay St., Baltimore.
Nov. 18: Bel Air Town Hall, Rotunda, 39 Hickory Ave., Bel Air.
Written public comments can also be filed by Nov. 19 and addressed to David J. Collins, Executive Secretary, Maryland Public Service Commission, William Donald Schaefer Tower, 6 Saint Paul St., 16th floor, Baltimore, MD 21202. Those mailing public comments should reference Case No. 9355.
