Crown Castle plans to move headquarters to downtown Columbia from Linthicum Heights

Crown Castle, a large provider of wireless infrastructure, will move its regional headquarters to the redeveloping Merriweather District in downtown Columbia, the company and the project’s master developer announced.

The Houston-based company, which operates cell towers nationwide and a supporting fiber optic network, plans to occupy 31,000 square feet in a new eight-story, 200,000-square-foot offices called One Merriweather, a central building in the business district that is being overhauled by the developer Howard Hughes Corp. as a more urban and walkable center for offices, shops, hotels and residences.

Crown Castle’s regional office, currently located in Linthicum Heights, plans to move as early as June to the building, which is anchored by MedStar Health. The firm did not say now many employees would be located at the site.

Crown Castle owns, operates and leases 40,000 cell towers in major markets across the United States.
