The brand was founded in 2005 by Ami and Jason Richter, who wanted to refresh drab travel bags with ā€œfun, functional and colorfulā€ designs. Its bags attracted the attention of Oprah Winfrey, who highlighted them in the ā€œO Listā€ in O, The Oprah Magazine.

Lug subsequently partnered with QVC, the television shopping channel, to offer the products for sale.

ā€œWe are flying high with excitement over our first-ever retail store — and by design, it is in an airport, where we can personally interact with individuals and families to help them travel with style and function to destinations around the world,ā€ Jason Richter said in a statement.

The store features touch-screen kiosks offering consumers an interactive experience to see and feel bags in different colors and prints.
