Businesses commit to create 2,400 jobs under Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. program

Through the program, businesses can get discounts on BGE natural gas and electricity services, and construction costs in exchange for creating new full-time jobs.

Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. reported that 19 companies participating in its Smart Energy Economic Development program are creating 2,400 jobs.

Through the program, businesses can get discounts on BGE natural gas and electricity services, and construction costs in exchange for creating new full-time jobs.

Of the 19 companies approved for the incentive program, 11 are based in Baltimore City. Others are in Harford, Baltimore and Prince George's counties.

At least 600 of the new jobs are expected to be in Baltimore.

BGE launched the SEED program in September 2015.
