Anchor Technologies moves to Columbia from Annapolis

Anchor Technologies Inc., a cyber security consulting firm, has moved from Annapolis to larger headquarters in Columbia.

The company's new, 4,583-square-foot office at 6315 Hillside Court in Columbia is three times the size of its old space. The move and expansion give Anchor Technologies more space for its growing business.

Anchor Technologies specializes in helping companies evaluate how secure they are and establishing a plan to close any gaps. The company recently launched a small business cyber security offering, called BlueRing, that CEO Peter Dietrich said taps into a market where demand for cyber security services is growing.

"Companies with fewer than 100 employees have been harder to secure with enterprise-sized solutions," he said.

BlueRing, which includes security software, consulting and management services, is designed to be more affordable for small firms that are priced out of security services intended for larger firms.

Anchor Technologies was founded in 2002 and has 12 employees. Dietrich said the company could hire three or four more employees, depending on demand for its new small business offering.

The new facility includes a managed services operations center and a training room.

In addition to giving Anchor Technologies more space, the new office brings the company closer to many of its clients in the Baltimore-Washington region and shortens the commute for many employees living in Howard County, Dietrich said.
