Under Armour has partnered with the NBA on a new app designed for basketball and fitness fans.
The NBA Fit app is designed to boost Under Armour's digital community while providing a new avenue into the basketball world.
The app "will focus on workouts, nutrition, basketball and Connected Fitness challenges, and will be the only fitness app on the market to feature training videos and tips from NBA and WNBA stars," said a news release on the unveiling.
Among the "challenges" the app currently presents is one related to the NBA finals, which begin tonight.
The app invites members to "log a basketball workout every day between now and June 19. As part of each workout session, attempt to match or exceed the record for three-point shots made in a single NBA Finals game (16). All workouts must be at least 30 minutes."
Under Armour already has a number of NBA tie-ins. It is the title partner of the draft combine and has a multi-year partnership with the NBA's youth basketball program.
The company is endorsed by league MVP Stephen Curry, who is featured in the app (there is a video of him playing golf and discussing "rhythm and flow"). But Nike still dominates the basketball footwear market.
The app is available via the App Store and Google Play.
