Under Armour is sponsoring an elite youth soccer tournament in Howard County this weekend in partnership with Tottenham Hotspur, the Premier League soccer club it's sponsored since 2011.

The tournament -- at Covenant Park and Blandair Regional Park for youths ages 11 to 15 -- will include 82 teams from the United States, Canada, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Tottenham Hotspur development staff will be on hand during the weekend. Thirty youth players will be selected to attend five days of training with the club in the spring of 2016.

Under Armour said it "will be sponsoring wear-testing stations during the tournament to give athletes the opportunity to demo our latest soccer boots, skills contests, and a 'Man of the Match' recognition for the most stand-out player in each game."

The event, called the Tottenham Hotspur America Cup tournament, is staged by event management company Elite Tournaments.

Tottenham Hotspur was the first Premier League club to sign with Under Armour. The club has been courting fans in the United States, and Under Armour has been seeking to extend its global reach.
