Under Armour's newest Brand House store – opening Friday on Chicago's "Magnificent Mile" – will be the first to include a fitness tracker "wearables bar."
The 30,000-square-foot store at 600 North Michigan Avenue will have a section dedicated to wearable fitness devices from Garmin, Pebble, Misfit and other brands, the Baltimore-based sports apparel maker said Thursday. The activity trackers and sports watches all will integrate with UA Record, the brand's online health and fitness network.
The specialty shop, the largest Brand House yet for the company, will also be the first with specialized shops for UA Hunt and UA Fish.
Under Armour has launched a major expansion of branded stores internationally and in select spots in the United States. The stores sell men's, women's and youth apparel and footwear.
The Chicago store will highlight categories such as team sports, outdoor, training, running, golf, youth and footwear, featuring the newly launched Stephen Curry signature shoe, the Curry One, and the SpeedForm Gemini running shoe.
Brand House stores also are located in Harbor East in downtown Baltimore, New York and Tyson's Corner in McLean, Va.
"Opening a Brand House on Chicago's Magnificent Mile allows us to establish Under Armour's presence in one of the most vibrant and iconic shopping destinations around the globe," said Susie McCabe, senior vice president of global retail, in the company's announcement.
