World Cup skier and Under Armour endorser Lindsey Vonn fractured her ankle skiing in New Zealand as she began her preparation for the new season.

"Unfortunately I crashed today and have a small fracture in my ankle. Headed home now but will keep u posted. ," Vonn tweeted Thursday morning.

Vonn has been with Under Armour since 2009 and played a key role in the Baltimore sports apparel brand's launch last year of its "I will what I want" marketing campaign targeting women along with new signees Misty Copeland and Gisele Bundchen.

Vonn tweeted a week ago that she was off to New Zealand for the training trip and posted a video clip Wednesday with .

The 30-year-old Vonn, who broke up with Tiger Woods in May, has said she plans to continue racing through the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea. She missed the 2014 Sochi games with a knee injury.

Vonn did not say which of her ankles she broke. She was in Baltimore as a guest of Under Armour for the 2015 Preakness.
