The clean vs. messy desk debate

Bob Munson, Glen Burnie: My desk has always looked like a nightmare and I've always been able to find what I need whenever I need to. My new supervisor, however, is demanding I get things organized. Did you come across any resources to help folks become more organized?

Hirsh: In researching my article, I interviewed experts from office supply stores. Many of those stores sell filing systems and other items to help keep your desk organized.

Also, Sharon Mann, an organizational expert for office supplies manufacturer Pendaflex and president of the company's I Hate Filing Club, recommends keeping your files labeled and color-coded and taking time at the beginning and end of each day to organize your desk and plan your schedule.

Mann offers other advice on the "I Hate Filing Club" section of Pendaflex's Web site (www.pendaflex.com).
