Baltimore's first Amazon Lockers appear at Shoppers Food stores

Baltimore city dwellers weary of package thieves have a new alternative for their latest impulse buy from Amazon.com.

The online retailer has installed its first Amazon Lockers at Shoppers Food & Pharmacy stores around the region. The lockers first appeared in 2011 in cities like New York, London and Amazon's hometown of Seattle.

The lockers are in place at Shoppers stores in East Baltimore, Locust Point and Mondawmin. There are also some lockers in Baltimore County, in Parkville, Catonsville, Windsor Mill and Pikesville; and in Anne Arundel County, in Brooklyn Park, Pasadena and Millersville.

The lockers provide a safe place for packages to be delivered. Once packages arrive, customers receive a digital code that they use to unlock the cabinet.
