Boston could be one of the next U.S. cities to get an Under Armour Brand House store, similar to large, flagship locations in Baltimore, Chicago and New York.
Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank told an audience of business executives in Boston Wednesday that he wants to open a store in that city's Back Bay on Newbury Street, the Boston Business Journal reported.
Plank was a speaker at the Boston College Chief Executives Club luncheon. The Locust Point-based sports apparel maker also is considering opening a store in Foxborough, Mass., Plank said, according to the report.
The company opened a Brand House in March on Chicago's "Magnificent Mile," the sixth of its kind in the U.S., showcasing core training apparel as well as fishing and hunting gear, innovations in running and basketball sneakers and a fitness tracker "wearables bar." Another location opened later that month at the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minn.
The brand is rolling out stores in the U.S. as well as dozens planned in international markets this year.
In March, Susie McCabe, Under Armour's vice president of global retail, said the company planned to open at least three more Brand House stores this year in the U.S. The stores are designed to complement distribution channels such as department and sporting goods stores, specialty stores and online.
