Under Armour will open a Brand House store in the Mall of America mega-mall this spring, part of the Baltimore-based company's plans to open 100 of its branded stores this year.
The sports apparel maker had 80 Brand House stores as of the end of last year, mostly outside the U.S. Domestic stores include one in Harbor East in Baltimore and in New York's SoHo district, the largest location, which opened last spring.
A spokeswoman for the Mall of America outside Minneapolis said the Brand House would open sometime this spring but offered no other details.
Most of Under Armour's new stores will open outside the U.S., mostly in China by licensed partners, as the company looks to grow internationally.
The sports brand is using the stores to highlight its fast-growing women's and footwear categories and offer lines of men's, women's and youth apparel and footwear, especially in key urban markets where wide assortments are less readily available than in larger, suburban sporting goods stores.
Company executives have said they plan to open stores that complement existing points of distribution and can be profitable.
