Footwear News is reporting that Under Armour footwear executive Dave Dombrow is leaving the Baltimore brand to join rival Nike.
FN calls Dombrow, vice president and creative director, footwear, "the mastermind behind some of Under Armour's hottest-selling shoes."
Dombrow has been with the brand for five years and had a hand in every big footwear project as the company has moved to expand its sneaker sales in key areas such as running and basketball.
When the brand debuted Stephen Curry's first signature basketball shoe, the Curry One, in January 2015, Dombrow said the shoe "represents Stephen's journey and the legacy he is building that is inspiring and motivating the next generation of basketball players."
Under Armour's footwear division has been headed since January 2015 by Peter Ruppe, senior vice president for footwear. Before joining Under Armour, Ruppe had spent nearly 25 years with Nike.
We are waiting to hear from both Under Armour and Nike.
