Under Armour COO Fulks to head footwear

Under Armour has moved its chief operating officer into a new role as head of footwear and product innovation, the sports apparel maker said Wednesday.

"In this role he will focus on a key growth driver for the company as the leader of its global footwear product category and will also continue to oversee product innovation for Under Armour across the world," the company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Besides serving as COO since September 2011, Fulks also had been president of product.

Brad Dickerson, Under Armour's chief financial officer, will take on the duties and title of chief operating officer. Dickerson now oversees accounting, finance, legal, compliance and corporate real estate functions. As COO, Dickerson also will head supply chain operations and corporate strategy.

The company has said it sees enormous potential in the $55 billion sneaker market. It recently unveiled the "Dark Matter" Curry One basketball shoe, a signature shoe of NBA All-Star and Under Armour athlete Stephen Curry.

The company is marketing the shoe through a global campaign featuring Curry and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx.

In January, the company had announced the hiring of a longtime Nike executive as senior vice president of footwear. Peter Ruppe had been with the rival brand for nearly 25 years.
