Maybe you go to the Auto Show because you like to see concept cars or new upgrades manufacturers have made. Maybe you like to look at the vintage cars. Maybe you go because you like to talk shop with the other attendees. Or maybe you just love cars.
My favorite part of the Auto Show? Luxury cars. I like to see the cars that cost more than most people make in a year - up close.
I love to imagine driving these expensive cars alongside different people in my life. Perhaps, had I chosen a different career, I could buy a few for some of the important people in my life. Like the six below.
For dad: 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
My dad and I have always enjoyed a good adrenaline rush. When I was younger we used to hit up Great America and spend the day together. Now, dad is getting older but he still enjoys the fast lane, even as his arthritis makes standing in line for roller coasters more difficult. But let’s face it, who enjoys standing in line? And although the days at Six Flags will always be near and dear to my heart, I know we would happily make room for the Superleggera.
For my mom: 2019 Bentley Bentayga
My mom and I have way too much fun together; whether we are shopping, eating (drinking) or swimming in the pool — together, life is always a party. People ask us if we are sisters, which always makes my mom’s day. One time someone even asked if we were dating. “She is my mom!” We both laughed. Basically, my mom needs a cute car to drive into the city for our girls days. Yaaas Queen.
For my boyfriend: 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith
Imagine the man of your dreams exiting this car and staring at you, and only you. That’s why.
For my mentor: 2019 Maserati GranTurismo
This car makes a serious statement: get out of the way. Other cars might try to race you on Interstate 94, but they know deep down that you have already won. The GranTurismo cuts through the traffic and gets stuff done. Any woman who runs the show needs this machine.
For Julia Roberts: 2019 Lotus Evora 400
For fans of the 1990 movie, “Pretty Woman” had important life lessons. Most importantly, you never know who can drive stick. And so it goes. Vivian introduced me to Lotus: “This baby corners like it’s on rails!” All movie references aside, I need Julia Roberts to please come to Chicago and teach me how to drive a manual transmission. Seriously, If anyone knows her …
For me: 2019 Lamborghini Aventador S
I had a Lamborghini when I was younger, and I rocked the heck out of that car. It was bright pink, made of plastic and decorated with Barbie stickers. Now, flush with piles of cash that I don’t really have, I’ve decided it’s time to get back in the driver’s seat. I can already feel the wind in my hair.
