Support for Monica Worrell for council [letter to The Aegis]

In the upcoming elections, District F is faced with replacing our County Council Representative, Mary Ann Lisanti, who is pursuing opportunities at the state level.

Mary Ann Lisanti "has always" represented the best interests of District F and is leaving behind some tough shoes to fill. However, there is great news. Monica Worrell, an exceptional individual and candidate who also has always been committed to the best interests of Harford County and is running for this prestigious seat. For those that don't know Monica, let me first introduce you to this outstanding candidate.

Monica has been a resident of Havre de Grace for 20+ years. She is happily married to Dave Worrell and is the proud mother of two grown sons. She has always been active in the local and business community and a graduate of the Harford Leadership Academy. Her experience includes Marketing & Patient Relations for Advanced Eye Care; public affairs spokesperson for the Harford County Sheriff's Department; Vice President, Hess Hotels Group; Economic Development and tourism coordinator for the City of Havre de Grace; manager of the Bayou restaurant; and the list goes on and on.

Monica's vision for Harford County is to improve the quality of life for its citizens by assuring responsible growth, effectively managing traffic, keeping Harford County as one of Maryland's safest, ensuring the County's fiscal stability and growth, and providing a quality education for our treasured and most valuable resource, our children who without a doubt are our future.

Why Monica Worrell? Monica's resume is matched by very few and no matter what the challenge, her track record speaks for itself. You can always count on her professionalism, fairness, common sense and "can-do" approach, independent thinking, fiscal conservatism, strong work ethic and ability to solve tough problems and build consensus. When faced with contradicting viewpoints requiring her to encourage her opponents to rethink their strategy and/or approach, she does so with integrity and goodwill. A vote for Monica will provide you with an advocate that will work hard for the qualities that are so important to the residents of Harford County to include economic vitality; environmental protection; a vibrant cultural life; public safety for our neighbors and streets; a promising community for our youth; jobs for our workforce and security for our seniors. This is extremely important recognizing that we are faced with budget uncertainty and major changes in the way we do business.

It must be key to point out that Monica has no hidden agenda and is running for County Council because of her love for Harford County and the residents that comprise this great county. She wants in some small way to "make a difference" and a vote for Monica Worrell will allow her the opportunity to do just that. Please join me in supporting such a well deserving candidate. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
