Port's Prost restaurant celebrates spring German-style [Port Deposit]

On the last weekend in May, Prost German Restaurant, at 1195 Jacob Tome Highway, held its 3rd Annual Spring Fest complete with big tent in the back, vendors, games and, naturally, lots of authentic German food. Visitors on Friday and Saturday enjoyed live German music, activities for the kids and plenty of food and fun.

Much sympathy is extended to the family of Eugene Boyd of Perryville, as he passed away June 3 from congestive heart failure. Condolences are sent to his wife and five sons and all their families. Eugene was well-known to everyone living near Perryville since he owned and operated the Twin Oaks Drive-In on Route 40 from 1955 until 1979. Teenagers in the '50s, '60s and '70s frequented Twin Oaks, enjoying Eugene's friendly service.

Happy belated birthday to Gary Bosley, Rising Sun, as he celebrated a milestone of a birthday on June 3.

The 25th Annual SunFest was held on Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. throughout Rising Sun. There were more than 100 vendors participating in the festivities which included a parade, a car show, a puppet show, a talent show, face painting, dancing, music, a dunking booth, a mechanical bull, ice cream treats and a variety of food. SunFest is sponsored by the Greater Rising Sun Chamber of Commerce and this year patrons saw lots of live performers including "Elvis," "Patsy Kline" and "Garth Brooks."

Julie Robichaud, North East, celebrated her birthday on June 9 while recuperating from a broken leg. Happy birthday and speedy recovery!

Congratulations and best wishes to D. Harvey and Suzie Cunningham, North Main Street, as they celebrated their wedding anniversary on June 10.

And Heather Flayhart, daughter of Kim and Rob Flayhart, South Main Street, enjoyed birthday greetings on June 10.

Harford County friend Walter B. Andrews of Havre de Grace, celebrated his birthday on June 11 and Evelyn Love, North Main Street, blew out 84 candles on her birthday cake on June 12.

The Water Witch Fire Company will serve its monthly chicken barbecue on Saturday, June 14 starting at 1 p.m. at House 2 off Jacob Tome Highway. The delicious dinners are usually a sell-out.

The American Legion 194, 336 E. Main St., Rising Sun is planning its annual Father's Day Bull Roast for Sunday, June 15. Tickets are available at the post.

By the way, Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there!

The Paw Paw Museum at 98 N. Main St. will be open on Sunday, June 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. The Bainbridge Museum at 6 S. Main St., opens each weekend from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
