Hospice Regatta coming to Havre de Grace June 7

The 15th annual Senator Bob Hooper House Hospice Regatta will be held on Saturday, June 7, at the Concord Point Lighthouse in Havre de Grace.

All proceeds will benefit the Senator Bob Hooper House, an assisted living community near Bel Air specializing in hospice care and a member of University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health.

The regatta raised more than $110,000 last year for hospice services in Harford County. Such services are essential for terminally ill patients and their families, offering support and compassion in dealing with issues associated with end of life care.

Individual tickets cost $75, and there are sponsorship opportunities at many different levels. For more information, contact Donna Tower Lenzner at The Upper Chesapeake Foundation, 443-643-3460 or

The Sponsor's Party kicks off the event at 5 p.m. with special hors d'oeuvres and a top shelf open bar. All guests are invited to watch the sailing race starting at 5 p.m. The Shore Party begins at 6 p.m. next to the Concord Point Lighthouse on the shoreline of the Susquehanna River in Havre de Grace, with dinner, dancing and entertainment.

Texas Roadhouse of Fallston will be donating steak and chicken dinners to an estimated 750 guests who will be in attendance, according to event organizers.

Unlimited beer and soda is included in the ticket price, and a cash bar will offer wine, specialty drinks and specialty beers. Entertainment includes live music from the band Stolen Identity, dancing under the stars and the popular plant and wine wheel.

A themed live and silent auction, entitled "Something for You," will offer items such as vacation opportunities, sporting events tickets, sports memorabilia, crafts and certificates for services from local businesses and restaurants.
