Mattress set on fire in Edgewood

A mattress was set against a wooden fence in Edgewood early Tuesday morning and set on fire, fire investigators said.

The fire, which caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, was set along a fence to the rear of a home in the 800 block of Sailboat Court. It was reported at 2:02 a.m., according to a notice of investigation from the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Ten firefighters extinguished the fire in 10 minutes, according to the notice.

Anyone with information is asked to call the fire marshal's office, 410-836-4844.

In August, the Fire Marshal's Office said it was investigating fires deliberately set on two porches at other locations in Edgewood, as well as to a bag of what was described as "fecal matter." Investigators said at the time the three fires were related. No arrests have been made.
