The Western Howard County Renegades are holding travel baseball tryouts for their 8U-15U teams between the dates of July 24 and Aug. 25. Please check for specific dates and times for each age group.

The Elkridge Youth Organization (EYO) will be conducting open tryouts on Aug. 7, 11 and 14 for the 8U travel baseball program for the 2013 fall and 2014 spring kid-pitch seasons. The organization, which is 55 years old, is dedicated to developing players in all aspects of baseball while placing a strong emphasis on being part of a team, competition and family. The team plays within the Mid-Atlantic Baseball Association (MABA) and all games and tournaments are played in the Maryland region. If your son is passionate about baseball and was born after April 30, 2005, call 443-717-2028 to register for the tryout.

Elkridge Travel Baseball will hold tryouts for its 2014 team beginning in July and throughout August. Go to (Baseball/Travel baseball tab) for specific information.

The Atholton Youth Recreation Association (AYRA) will conduct tryouts for their 2014 13U (players born after April 30, 2001) baseball travel teams on Aug. 11 from 1-3 p.m. and Aug. 17 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. The team will play in the spring MABA travel league, as well as three to four tournaments throughout the season. The 12U Undertaker baseball program, an expansion of the Maryland Chill softball charter, is looking to establish itself in the Howard County region. The team will continue the formation of its new team with tryouts on Aug. 7 (6 p.m.) and Aug. 17 (9 a.m.). The Burtonsville Athletic Association is currently holding tryouts for travel baseball teams (9U-14U) and accepting registrations for fall recreational league baseball and softball. Programs are available for players in kindergarten through 10th grade. Visit for more details.

The Chapelgate Christian Academy is holding a boys basketball camp for grades 6-12 during the week of July 29-Aug. 2. The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbia Presbyterian Church on Route 108. Chapelgate coaches and basketball alumni will serve as counselors and instructors. Thunder Soccer Club U12 (born after August 1, 2001) Koln boys travel team will be holding tryouts in July. Koln plays in the BBSL in the fall and spring as well as local tournaments. Email for more information.

The 12th Annual First Tee golf tournament, benefitting The First Tee of Howard County, will be Aug. 7. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Dinner is included afterward.
