First thoughts on honeymoon planning

My fiancé Keith and I are about 10 months out from our wedding but are starting to think about where and how long we would like our honeymoon to be.

We just recently went on vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and it helped us to think about what we really liked or what we would do differently for our next vacation (which will be our honeymoon). We absolutely loved our resort and the fact that it was all-inclusive. The staff were all very friendly, and it was nice not having to worry about how much money we were spending all week. We read reviews online and everyone had said how nice everyone was and how beautiful the place was. And we agreed with all of what we'd read.

However, the beach was not what we expected. The ocean water was not clear like we imagined and the bottom was filled with big rocks. Although we still had an amazing time together, this was definitely the biggest letdown of the trip.

For the honeymoon, we'll do more research. We have decided that we will ask my aunt, who is a travel agent, for advice on where to go and she will be able to tell us about places with sandy white beaches and clear water.

I think we are also leaning toward going for either a little over a week or 2 weeks depending on the price difference. We always lose out on a couple days because of traveling, and then there’s the chance of bad weather, so we want to make sure we have plenty of time for the beach and excursions.

I think the planning can get very stressful right before the wedding, so I can’t wait to find the perfect place to unwind on the honeymoon with my husband.

If you have suggestions, let me know!
