Donate new or gently used coats at three Laurel locations

Three groups in Laurel are collecting new and gently used coats, which will be distributed locally to those in need.

Faith African Methodist Episcopal Church, 13714 Briarwood Drive, is holding its annual winter coat drive through Sunday, Nov. 13.

New and gently used winter coats, hats, scarves and gloves to fit school-aged children can be dropped off at the church Sundays, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m.; and Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Donated items will be distributed to students in Prince George's County public schools in mid-November. Contact Faith A.M.E. at 301-604-3006 or admin@faithame.org

Lovely Ladies of Laurel is collecting coats through Nov. 30. Coats can be donated from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 144 of Laurel High School's auditorium, 8000 Cherry Lane. Zips Dry Cleaners, in Laurel, will clean all donated coats.

The Laurel Board of Trade, 342 Main St., is collecting new and gently used coats 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through Thursday, Nov. 10. The LBOT is working with Koinonia Fellowship Ministries, 9015 Maier Road in North Laurel, who will distribute the coats to those in need on Saturday, Nov. 19. Any remaining coats will be donated to shelters in Laurel. For information, call LBOT Administrative Coordinator Gail Reinhardt, 301-483-0838.
