Laurel crime log: Armed robbery at Cricket Wireless Store

Laurel Police reports felonies, arrests and property crimes. Prince George's County Police report violent crimes and property crime. Howard County police report major crimes, break-ins and car thefts.

Baltimore Avenue, 14900 block, Aug. 17. Armed robbery of Cricket Wireless Store. Man entered store and after customer left store, he approached an employee, displayed handgun and robbed store. No one was injured. Man fled from rear of store in unknown direction.

Washington Boulevard, 400 block, Aug. 17. Entry gained through glass door. Small amount of money taken. Crime captured on video; police using video to try to identify subject.

Montgomery Street, 1100 block, Aug. 17. Air conditioning unit stolen from home.

Braygreen Road, 7900 block, Aug. 16. Six vehicles broken into. Two Garmin GPS systems, Mio GPS system, Oakley sunglasses and cell-phone charger taken. Police using video to try to identify subjects.

Montrose Avenue, 900 block, Aug. 15. Entry gained by smashing window. Small amount of money taken.

Cambridge Circle, 14600 block, Aug. 14. Garmin GPS system stolen from car.

Ashford Boulevard, 8300 block, Aug. 13. Garmin GPS system stolen from SUV truck.

Montgomery Street, 300 block, Aug. 13. Craftsman Weed eater stolen from truck.

Fenwick Court, 8100 block, Aug. 13. Blue 2005 Yamaha motorcycle with Maryland tags stolen.

Tenth Street, 1000 block, Aug. 11. Garmin GPS system stolen from SUV.

Morris Drive, 100 block, Aug. 11. Laurel woman, 90, reported she was scammed after receiving a phone call from someone who said he was public defender representing her grandson, who was in jail over traffic accident. Caller told woman to send $5,300 to pay for vehicle damage and personal injuries to get grandson out of jail, and that she would be reimbursed by insurance company. Woman completed transaction through Western Union and found out next day that grandson was not in an accident or arrested. Police said phone used by caller was in continuing Canada. Investigation.

Baltimore Avenue, 14200 block, Aug. 11. Nike tennis shoes and Rollerblade bag stolen from Modell's.

Sharon Court, 100 block, Aug. 11. Attempted theft of 2006 Suzuki motorcycle damaged ignition.

Baltimore Avenue, 14700 block, Aug. 9. Laurel man, 18, arrested for shoplifting at Macy's. All stolen items recovered.
