Two arrested, CDS seized in Russett

Anne Arundel County Police officers on routine patrol in Russett arrested two men and charged them on various counts related to possession of controlled dangerous substances, or CDS, Aug. 8.

Officers from the Western District's Police and Community Together, or PACT, unit observed a suspicious occupied vehicle near the intersection of Marcey Creek Road and Accokeek Street. A passenger had a plastic baggy in his lap, which police said was later determined to be filled with suspected crack cocaine.

When officers asked the occupants to exit the vehicle, the passenger got out and assaulted one of the officers, according to a police report. After struggling with the passenger, police said they had to restrain him with a Taser. The driver was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Police found approximately 54 grams of suspected crack cocaine within the vehicle, with an estimated value of $5,940. Police also found a small amount of marijuana and seized $800, along with the vehicle.

The driver, Kevin D. Tyner Jr., 35, of Mayaone Street in Russett; and the passenger, Dennis Gale Gore Jr., 30, of no fixed address, were arrested and charged with possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS not marijuana, possession of CDS marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gale was also charged with second degree assault and hindering an investigation.
