The following students earned Bachelor of Arts in May from St. Mary's College of Maryland:

Michele Johnson, of Elkridge, earned a degree in English, and minors in philosophy and women, gender and sexuality studies;

Harris Pfau, of Elkridge, earned a degree in philosophy;

Megan Lantz, of Hanover, earned a degree in history and a minor in educational studies;

Christine Thomas, of Hanover, earned a degree in psychology;

Brian Van Parys, of Marriottsville, earned a degree in chemistry;

Skylar Bauer, of Mount Airy, earned a degree in anthropology and minors in philosophy and museum studies;

Allison Hendricks, of Ellicott City, earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Salisbury University. She has also been named to the dean's list for the spring 2011 semester.

Jay Voris, of Elkridge, has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, an academic honorary society, at the University of Rochester, in Rochester, N.Y. He is a senior majoring in optics. Voris is the son of Wendy Ng and Bruce Voris.

Madeline Matotek, of Ellicott City, will participate in the Ambassador Peter F. Secchia Voyage of Discovery, an educationl and cultural initiative tht sends Italian-American students to Italy. She is a student at the University of Maryland and is the daughter of Joseph and Jeanne Matotek.

Haylie Swenson, of Laurel, has received a scholarship from SECU, which awards scholarships annually to Maryland state employees or members of their immediate families.

The following students earned a Bachelor of Arts in May from Washington College:

Allyson Happel, of Ellicott City, earned a degree in sociology and received the Holstein Prize for Ethics; and

Michael Mason, of Mount Airy, earned a degree in political science and received the Louis L. Goldstein '35 Award.

Emily Johnson, of Brookeville, completed the Scranton Emerging Leaders program, which is a series of weekly workshops for nominated students dedicated to developing and enhancing leadership skills, at the University of Scranton, in Scranton, Pa. She is a sophomore in the Kania School of Management.

Salisbury University students Eric Benner, of Ellicott City, and Adam Bereston, of Howard County, participated in Salisbury University's community service project, "The Big Event."

Mykael Goodsell-SooTho, of Ellicott City, received the Presidential Diversity Scholar Award at Moving-Up Day ceremonies at St. Lawrence University, in Canton, N.Y.

Meghan Madden, of Ellicott City, earned a Bachelor of Science in professional nursing in May from the University of Vermont, in Burlington, Vt.

Fanwei Zeng, of Ellicott City, earned a doctorate degree in earth science in May from Rice University, in Houston, Texas.

The following students, both of Ellicott City, earned degrees in May from the University of Mary Washington, in Fredericksburg, Va.:

Meredith K. Downes earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish; and

Emily W. Roberts earned a Bachelor of Arts in German.

Stephanie Schmid, of Ellicott City, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2011 semester at Juniata College, in Huntingdon, Pa. She is a junior studying prek-4 and special education.

Victoria Waldron, of Elkridge, has been named to the President's List for the spring 2011 semester at Wingate University, in Wingate, N.C.

Brittany Lubonski, daughter of James and Monika Lubonski, of Huntingtown, and Adam and Bonnie Bajrak, of Dayton, has been accepted into Beta Gamma Sigma international honor society of business at Salisbury University. Lubonski is a junior majoring in accounting and is a 2009 graduate of Huntingtown High School.

Sabrina Anwar, daughter of Taufiq and Tasleema Anwar, of Laurel, earned a Bachelor of Arts in international business and management in May from Dickinson College, in Carlisle, Pa. She is a graduate of Reservoir High School.

Faye Liberatore, of Ellicott City, earned an Associate of Applied Science in business management from Howard Community College.
