Katie Carpenter, of Clarksville, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2010 semester at Mount St. Mary's University. She is a junior majoring in business, with a concentration in management, and a double minor in English and communications.
Samantha Mae Mathis, of Dayton, has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2010 semester at Mount St. Mary's University. She is majoring in elementary education.
Mathieu Philie, of West Friendship, earned a place on the Academic All-Patriot League for golf. A systems engineering major at West Point, Philie played in eight events during the season, with three top-20 finishes and will participate in the NCAA D1 Regionals, in Tucson, Ariz. He is a 2009 graduate of Glenelg High School.
Alyssa L. Bailey, of Ellicott City, received the Quincy Sharpe Mills Scholarship during the University of North Carolina School of Journalism and Mass Communication 2011 scholarships and awards ceremony. The $5,000 scholarship honors the memory of a journalist who was killed in France in World War I.
The following students earned degrees from Lebanon Valley College, in Annville, Pa.:

Devon Brown, Tanya Johnson and Jasmine Washington, all of Laurel, earned degrees from Hampton University, in Hampton, Va.
Joseph Slattery, of Mount Airy, has been inducted into Alpha Epsilon Delta, the national honor society for pre-med, at Providence College, in Providence, R.I. He is pursuing a degree in biology.
Brian Holley, of Laurel, has been inducted into the Gamma Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at the University of Maryland. He is also the recipient of the Gamma Award. Holley is a 2008 graduate of Reservoir High School and is a junior majoring in economics.
Daniel Holley, of Laurel, earned a master's degree in accountancy in May from the George Washington University School of Business. He is a 2010 graduate of the University of Maryland and a 2006 graduate of Reservoir High School. Holley has accepted a position with an accounting firm in Bethesda.
