Subsidizing pools should work both ways, or not at all

I already subsidize CA's pools, if the proposal to grant tax exemptions to nonprofit swim clubs goes through, I'll have to subsidize other county pools as well. I don't use either. Why shouldn't other county residents have to subsidize CA's pools in the same manner?

The idea of extending the credit only to nonprofits who exclusively run swim clubs seems arbitrary to me. The Columbia Association is a nonprofit, so why not give them a credit for the properties their pools are on (not other CA properties, of course). Or scrap the tax credit. These are private clubs, not charities. They should be subject to market forces just like everyone else. I see a slippery slope here.
