Patricia A. Fetcho, C&P operator, dies

Patricia A. Fetcho, a former telephone operator and a homemaker, died Feb. 12 of lung cancer at Hospice of the Chesapeake's Tate House. She was 81.

The daughter of a postal worker and a homemaker, Patricia Richards was born in Baltimore and raised on Kenwood Avenue.

After graduating from Eastern High School, she went to work as a telephone operator for the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co., where she later became a billing office clerk. She left C&P in 1958 to become a full-time homemaker.

She lived for years in Severna Park until moving to Ellicott City in 2005.

Mrs. Fetcho had been a volunteer at St. John the Evangelist Elementary School in Severna Park, and with the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland.

She enjoyed traveling, playing Scrabble and completing crossword puzzles.

She was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock, where a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Fetcho, founder of C.A.C. Direct Marketing Co.; three sons, John Fetcho of Ellicott City, Paul Fetcho of Linthicum and Mark Fetcho of Bel Air; a daughter, Annemarie Fetcho Hoffman of Elkridge; a sister, Mary Jane McGinnis of Dover, Del.; and seven grandchildren. An infant daughter, Margaret Fetcho, died in 1960.
