American Legion Hall in Edgewood destroyed after snow-related collapse

The American Legion Hall in Edgewood collapsed under the weight of snow Wednesday and is completely destroyed.

Nobody was in the hall at the time of the collapse, which happened shortly before 4 p.m.m No one was injured when the 2,500-square-foot wood frame structure caved in.

Harford County fire and rescue personnel responded to the incident. A damage estimate is not yet available.

Harford officials are concerned that the heavy snow will cause more flat roofs to collapse. They have asked residents to remain alert to problems such as leaking, unusual noises or inoperable windows and doors. People are urged to evacuate any building that might be at risk of collapse.
