In his limited time with the Ravens, rookie defensive end Michael McAdoo demonstrated what he can do.
McAdoo sacked and stripped Atlanta Falcons quarterback John Parker Wilson late in the fourth quarter, forcing a turnover that would lead to the Ravens' final touchdown in a 21-7 victory on Thursday night.
It was McAdoo's first appearance in a game this preseason as he had signed with the club a day after not being selected in the supplemental draft on Aug. 22.
"I know that I came in with a short period of time and I've had to prove myself over the last week," he said. "But catching up with the plays and catching up with the environment here, I feel like I gained 100 percent. If I give 100 percent, I feel like the best is yet to come."McAdoo's brief outing was his first in almost two years after he sat out last season when the NCAA suspended 14 University of North Carolina players for accepting impermissible benefits from agents.
"I felt like I got used to it," he said of his conditioning. "I was a little winded because I haven't really been playing for more than a year, but I knew that once I got back out there and started getting into a groove that things would start getting back to normal."
McAdoo isn't sure whether his performance was enough to convince the coaching staff to retain him or even put him on the practice squad if he clears waivers. But he said it was good to know that he could still play.
"It gave me a lot of confidence," he said. "With me sitting out a whole year, I was a little iffy about not being around. But once I got out there and did the things that I did, I gained a lot of confidence back."
