There's nothing like NBA star power to get Baltimore basketball fans buzzing -- and they're buzzing right now.

Maybe you heard: they're playing a little hoops over at the Morgan State gym tonight. Just a little run with Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James and Chris Paul on one team. Oh, yeah, their teammates include Memphis guard Josh Selby (Lake Clifton), Sacramento forward Donte Greene and San Antonio guard Gary Neal (Aberdeen High, Calvert Hall, Towson U.)

They're playing a bunch of fat guys from the Towson YMCA. It's shirts and skins. Personally, I don't think the fat guys have a prayer.

No, I'm kidding, they're playing a team led by league scoring leader Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder, a team that includes Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins, Milwaukee guard Brandon Jennings and Boston forward Jeff Green.

Yeah, just a little pickup game with Melo and his buddies.

If you hadn't heard about it, I wouldn't stress. Despite the All-Star cast, this game hasn't been promoted in the newspapers or on TV. They're relying mostly on word of mouth to fill the gym.

King James, the NBA two-time Most Valuable Player, just committed to the game the other day, which guarantees a healthy dose of jeering and trash-talking from all the Miami Heat "Dream Team" haters in the stands.

You probably won't see a lot of defense in this game. But who goes to these kinds of games to see defense? What you will see are a lot of fabulous dunks, ankle-breaking moves and rainbow three-pointers from as far away as the men's room. No one on the court is going to be shy about putting the ball up, that's for sure.

Tickets to see this little run aren't cheap: $40 for general admission and $100 for floor seats. But they're not out of line by NBA standards at all. And for an up-close-and-personal look in Morgan's cozy Hill Field House at all those superstars, it's practically a bargain.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m., game time is at 7. My advice: get there early. This one will sell out fast.
