Maryland defensive tackle Justin Anderson, who started preseason camp second on the depth chart, is out at least six weeks with a foot injury, coach Randy Edsall said after practice today.
Anderson had surgery on the ankle yesterday. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound junior tackle entered August behind only redshirt freshman Andre Monroe.
"You're going to have bumps and bruises," Edsall said after the Terps practiced in pads for the first time. "I've got that philosophy 'Next guy in.' If you get hurt, the next guy has got to be able to step up and be as good or better than the guy that he is going to replace."
