Dalonte Hill, Maryland's $300,000 man

OK, tell the truth. You had been voyeuristically wondering how much money men's basketball assistant Dalonte Hill was being paid by Maryland.

After all, the Kansas City Star reported that Hill, while at Kansas State, was getting in the range of $420,000. That's not usually assistants' money. Hill made enough that The Chronicle of Higher Education once speculated that he was better paid than Kansas State's president.

It looks like Hill took a pay cut to return to the D.C.-Maryland area. My sources tell me Hill will be paid about $300,000.

Maryland is still finalizing the contracts of its basketball assistants, but the salaries are set.

Turgeon has different incentives than his predecessor, Gary Williams. Williams did not have bonuses attached to making the NCAA tournament, but collected $318,000 in 2010 for tying Duke atop the ACC standings.

Turgeon gets a $25,000 bonus for an NCAA bid and a $30,000 bonus for each additional NCAA round until the Sweet Sixteen. After that, the bonuses get really sweet.
