This is the kind of game that drives Orioles fans nuts. The Orioles have dominated this game for 7 1/2 innings, from Jake Arrieta's three-hit performance to the 14 baserunners the O's have managed against Kyle Davies and the Royals bullpen. And yet, this game is still very much in doubt going into the ninth inning.

Give Adam Jones an assist in the eighth that may have prevented the Royals from tying the game against Jim Johnson. He threw up his hands when Mike Avilas' potential RBI triple got stuck under the fence in left center field, which turned the hit into a ground-rule double and kept the lead runner at third base. The Royals eventually got one run on an RBI groundout, but that might have driven in the tying run if Avilas had been at third.
