Rob Ehsan -- who was an assistant under Maryland basketball coach Gary Williams -- is likely to take a job on Seth Greenberg's staff at Virginia Tech, according to a source with knowledge of Ehsan's plans.
The deal has not yet been announced by either school, and I'm not going to characterize it as final. But it's close.
Ehsan, who could not be reached for comment, was interim head coach after Williams retired, and some Terps fans wondered if he'd be a candidate for the top job. He's considered a rising star in the coaching world, but hasn't yet been a head coach.
This past season was his sixth on the staff. He began as a graduate assistant. He is a former player at the University of California, Davis, from which he graduated in 2005.
Virginia Tech has an opening because Adrian Autry took an assistant's job at Syracuse.
Maryland coach Mark Turgeon is hiring Dalonte Hill and Scott Spinelli for his staff along with Terps holdover Bino Ranson.
No word yet on the plans of Williams' other assistant, Keith Booth ('BOOTH!").
