Recognizing his triple-threat status as "filmmaker, photographer, writer," and his membership in The Wexner Center International Arts Advisory Council as well as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, La Biennale di Venezia has named John Waters to the International Jury of the 54th International Art Exhibition.

The president of the jury is Cairo-based artist and experimental musician Hassan Khan. The other jurors are Chinese curator and critic Carol Yinghua Lu, French writer Christine Macel (who is also curator of Centre Pompidou, Paris) and Italy's Letizia Ragaglia, who specializes in "museology and contemporary art."

Museology? Really? I hope that Wikipedia is wrong, and that museology isn't "the diachronic study of museums" but the study of muses. In any case, congratulations, Mr. Waters, and have fun.
