Dalonte Hill, Ranson, Spinelli form new Terps staff

Maryland basketball coach Mark Turgeon has hired well-known recruiter Dalonte Hill from Kansas State, according to a source close to the program. Hill's background in District of Columbia summer-league play had helped him lure significant talent to Kansas State.

Turgeon is also retaining Bino Ranson -- an assistant coach under the now-retired Gary Williams with deep Baltimore ties, .

Hill, once a major player in the DC Assualt AAU program, helped bring Michael Beasley, Wally Judge and others from Washington.

Ranson's knowledge of the AAU culture and the relationships he formed with fellow coaches in Baltimore made him attractive to Maryland when he was hired a year ago.

Maryland's new basketball staff will be much more steeped in summer-league culture than the previous one.

Maryland is expected to soon announce the hirings.
