Barry Levinson goes Gotti for next film

Reuters' Gregg Kilday has reported that Barry Levinson's next project is the true-crime epic "Gotti: Three Generations," from a script by Leo Rossi hinging on the relationship between Gambino crime-family boss John Gotti Sr. (John Travolta) and his son. Lindsay Lohan is set to play Gotti Jr.'s wife, Kim.

Considering the skill Levinson displayed in his HBO Jack Kevorkian film, "You Don't Know Jack" -- the director brought authentic emotion to a fact-based story and guided Italian-American superstar Al Pacino to a stunning, Emmy-winning performance -- this could be a great American crime film and a dramatic comeback for Travolta.

Levinson is no stranger to complex criminal sagas: 20 years ago he directed the wildly original and unpredictable Bugsy Siegel biopic, "Bugsy" (see trailer above).
