As part of the online coverage leading up to the NFL draft, The Sun will look at prospects who could be available for the Ravens with the 26th overall pick.
COREY LIUGET
Defensive tackle, Illinois
Height/weight: 6-2/298
Key statistics: Finished with 25.5 tackles for losses in 36 career games
Pro Football Weekly ranking: 9th among all defensive linemen
Why Ravens should draft him: He's quick of the snap and has great range, making plays most tackles can't. Plus, Liuget can generate a pass rush from the interior of the line. He's known as a strong tackler who can make plays in space.
What should concern Ravens: Liuget is an unknown commodity because he was a full-time starter for one year. There are questions about his conditioning (he carries 28 percent body fat) and stamina.
What they're saying: "I think he's somewhere in the middle of the first round. I probably like him better than most people, although I think he's rising a little bit now. I'd much rather have Corey Liuget at 20 than Nick Fairley at 8." – NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock
Interaction with Ravens: Private workout this month
Bottom line: Liuget should be taken in the middle of the first round, and the Ravens probably wouldn't mind. The Ravens used a second-round pick on Terrence Cody last year and plan to lock up Haloti Ngata to a long-term deal. So, the Ravens likely won't use a first-round pick on an interior defensive lineman. In fact, Liuget getting drafted early would push another coveted prospect down to the Ravens.
