Torrey Smith ran the fourth-fastest time among wide receivers at the NFL combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds.

Smith's first attempt was unofficially recorded at 4.37 seconds, but it was later changed to 4.43 seconds.

Smith's time doesn't compare to the one recorded by former Maryland wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. In 2009, Heyward-Bey ran the fastest 40-yard time of that combine, recording a time of 4.3 seconds.

Smith's fast time will help him in his effort to solidify his status as a first-round pick. He's been linked to the Ravens (No. 26) and New England Patriots (No. 28).

1. Edmund Gates, Abilene Christian: 4.37
