There are conflicting reports on whether Ravens quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn is a candidate for the Cleveland Browns' offensive coordinator job.
A league source told The News-Herald in Northern Ohio that Zorn is in line for that position. Hours later, a source told The Cleveland Plain Dealer that Zorn isn't a candidate.
Zorn has a strong connection with Browns president Mike Holmgren. He was the Seahawks quarterbacks coach from 2001 to 2007 when Holmgren was the head coach there.
Browns new coach Pat Shurmur will run the same West Coast offense that Holmgren did in Seattle, so Zorn would have a familiarity with the system. At his introductory news conference, Shurmur said he would initially call the plays.Zorn was fired by Washington Redskins on in January 2010 after a disastrous second season as their head coach. The Ravens hired him as their quarterbacks coach 25 days later because they were overwhelmed by his experience: 11 seasons as an NFL quarterback, 11 seasons as a respected NFL quarterbacks coach and a familiarity with their offense.
Zorn replaced Hue Jackson, who has since become the Oakland Raiders' head coach.
