Foster playing for Texans coaches

Echoing Bernard Pollard's interview with The Houston Chronicle about being motivated to play for the Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak and his staff, running back Arian Foster said he is playing to collect wins and perhaps keep the current make-up of the team intact.

"I can't speak for my teammates, but I can say that I've felt like I've been playing for my coach since I got here just because of the level of respect that I have for him," Foster said of Kubiak during a conference call with Baltimore media Thursday. "I've really listened to what that man said. He's obviously knowledgeable about the game, he's great at what he does, and I think he's two or three years from getting where this city wants to be. But I would say that I've been playing for him since I got here. He's a coach you just want to play for anyway, regardless of the situation."Foster leads the NFL in rushing yards (1,230), rushing touchdowns (13) and yards from scrimmage (1,709), but at 5-7, the Texans are wasting a career season for any running back.

Foster hasn't been keeping abreast of speculation surrounding Kubiak's tenure in Houston or him possibly succeeding Josh McDaniels, who was fired by the Denver Broncos on Monday.

"Honestly, this is really the first I've heard of it, so it really hasn't bothered me up to this point," Foster said. "I think it will bother me because I don't think anybody wants to hear about anybody losing their job."
